"...There is no such thing as luck."

Our rookie year was a time of learning and failing and learning some more! We enjoyed the Rover Ruckus 2018-19 season challenges.

Obi-Wan tells Han Solo that, in his experience, there is no such thing as luck. We would agree.

This year, we set some goals down on paper and stuck to them! We worked hard and found ways to stay on task with what we wanted to accomplish. We didn't necessarily want to win every tournament. We wanted to do our best work, following the guidelines set before us and following other team examples of success also.

TEAM GOALS:

1. One of our team goals was to stay on top of the notebook, not wait 'til the last minute to type it all up. We accomplished this by having everyone fill out an "End of the Day" form. This kept everyone accountable to adding to our notebook as well.

2. Another team goal has been to spread awareness in our community about what FIRST has to offer. We have mentored 6 FLL Jr. teams so far! As quite a few kiddos age out of this program, we hope to expand to offer an FLL, STEM related class next fall. People are getting excited about coding, building, engineering, etc. I'd say we are on the right track!

3. A goal we had for our robot this year was to build a sturdy chassis. We did just that! We raised funds and had enough to purchase the Tilerunner with mecanum wheels from AndyMark. We have modified it some, but it has proven to be most sturdy!

4. Recruiting has been a major concern. It is just a difficult thing for our area. We don't have a lot of local support for STEM activities and parents just don't know what we have to offer. We have grown our team to have some great teammates. We can still use some help and ideas in this area!
